My friend is sitting outside a yeshiva where he works but is locked out because they haven't given him the code. He is smoking a cigarette. A jogger passes by, stops and shouts in English "What the f... are you looking at!" My friend says, "Why are you talking to me like that." The jogger curses again and runs off. Five minutes later the jogger returns with a policeman! (Calling the police on people is the national sport in Israel.) The jogger claims that my friend spit at him. My friend denies it and tries to tell his story. Policeman says, "I don't have time for this," and leaves. Jogger crosses the street, leers at my friend, and gives him the middle finger, keeps staring, and finally runs off.
But it gets better. The police returned and demanded to see the tape! They got the tape and brought my friend into a room and watched it, seeing that there was no spitting, they declared "We'll be watching you." Then they left.
This happened tonight.
As I have said, the craziest people move to Israel, and the British olim are some of the craziest.
P.S. This is the same guy who last night was confronted by the army on his way back from Beitar. A soldier stopped the car, ripped open the door, and demanded ID achshav! achsav! The soldiers are on the hunt for bochurim with arrest warrants for evading the draft.
