Journalist Seymour Hirsch spoke to a retired senior IDF officer. Here are some excerpts:
I am of course for stopping the war, but for a different reason: this is the only way to get our hostages. The Gazans deserve everything they got. No genocide, though. I hope you know there was none. They have been educating their babies to slaughter us or die, or to slaughter us and die. Marauding Jihad and martyrdom have been their highlights at all levels of education. Hating the Gazans, all of then, intensely, is the only common denominator between me, a liberal in my own eyes, and [Bezalel] Smotrich [the far right Treasury Secretary of Israel, who advocates annexing the West Bank and occupying Gaza]. What to do about it is where there is nothing in common between us.
You see there first of all what it means to be an Israeli liberal. He sounds like Atilla the Hun. What makes him a liberal, that he likes gay pride parades and abortion? What kind of liberal talks like this, hating "intensely" another people -- all of them -- and having no sympathy for ANY of them, even the babies. Over the last year, IDF bombing has killed thousands of children and orphaned many more. Thousands have been maimed, enduring amputations without anesthesia. Some have been blinded. He has NO sympathy, ZERO, for they ALL are guilty? Even the Germans weren't all guilty. Is this rational, factual, compassionate?
No, but it's a common Israeli sentiment. He's not the only one who talks this way. A hostage who was held in the apartment of a "Gaza civilian" declared "They are all guilty!" I understand her pain, but her declaration is not fact based. The guy who held her and maybe his wife are guilty. That you can say. As for the millions of other people, half of whom are children, that you can't say. I'm sorry, but you cannot say that, even though they Arabs.
Children are not guilty for the actions of adults. But what about the adults? Wouldn't Hamas have a million fighters rather than 20,000 if the were ALL guilty? The Borough of Brooklyn has 20,000 gang members who commit all kinds of crimes. Does that mean that every resident of Brooklyn is guilty of those crimes? Should the NYPD level all of Brooklyn? Should we hate everyone in Brooklyn because 1% of the people are gangsters?
The Gaza Strippers are the ultimate enemy, all of them Islamo-Nazis of the worst kind. Their children are Islamo-Nazi Hitlerjugend [Hitler Youth] fighting in Berlin, 1945, for their Führer in the collapsing, burning rubble. But we are not Nazis, and our duty is to find a way to change. You [Americans] did it from 1945 to 1950, and present-day Germany is no Nazi Berlin any longer. The West Bankers are no friends but not the same as Gazans. Many Arabs are ready for co-existence. Maybe even the Jihadist al-Julani Shaara”—the former ISIS commander who is now head of Syria.
Again, he refers to all of them as being "the worst kind" of Nazis! These deranged people talk in such extremes. They are drama queens. If this kind of talk doesn't bother you, then he's not the only one with a problem.
And we see here the usual Israeli defense of atrocity by comparing itself to America during WWII. You recall that war where the Allies were fighting the most powerful military force in the world, one with tens of millions of soldiers and thousands of tanks and planes of the most sophisticated types of their time. Germany was conquering country after country in Europe and enslaving and killing along the way. Gaza has zero tanks, zero planes, and about 20,000 fighters. They rarely leave the enclose that they have lived in for twenty years. To stop them, all you have to do is watch the fence. You don't need to slaughter people who have no exit available to them. Even when the Canaanite nations were being wiped out, they were given an exit corridor. It is against the halacha to surround a people and exterminate them.
Here Hirsch spoke to another Israeli:
Since Bibi, no more. We are becoming an Arab state or Hungary or Russia. The executive wants to be all, and to achieve it they are destroying the fragile Jewish common denominator. Headed by a brilliant Ashkenazi manipulator, they are turning Moroccan Jews against the Ashkenazi Jews, with Iraqi Syrian, Libyan, Tunisian, Yemenite, and Egyptian Jews in the middle They are also showering gold on parasitic ultra-orthodox (mostly Askenazis) in a war era to secure their support. This is exacerbating the conflict.”
You get that? Parasitic ultra-Orthodox? This is the Israeli way, to hate anybody who isn't in their exact group, to not see at all the perspective of others, to assume the worst about everyone, and to be self-righteous as they do it. So if his assessment of the ultra-Orthodox is way off base, might his assessment of Gazans also be inaccurate? And while he accuses others of being Nazis he doesn't seem to realize that use of the word parasite about Jews is Nazi talk.
Adolf Hitler: “The Jew was only and always a parasite in the body of other peoples….The Jews are a people under whose parasitism the whole of honest humanity is suffering” (Mein Kampf).
These are disturbed people. And they are everywhere in Israel. It's not everyone, but there are many like this, including those in power. These people are so brimming with rage, hatred, and violence that I don't who to compare them too. I sure don't want to live in the same country that they do. What kind of society is it? It's fascistic. No, it's not a Jewish state. None of this is Jewish. It doesn't matter how many flags are flown the Magen David on top. You have act Jewish and think Jewish to call yourself Jewish.
