Not English

 I have shown in the past photos of bookshelves in English language shuls in allegedly Anglo communities where English language books are not to be found.

Here's a poster for a chanuchas habayis, a new shul inauguration. It's entirely in Hebrew. The congregation is nearly entirely Anglo. 

There's not one word in English.

Just the other day, a visiting bochur said to me, isn't it like America over there (in my town).

No, it's not. That's another myth. You will not function here if you aren't fluent in Hebrew. That you will not become fluent if you are 40 or older is another subject. Even kids who learn Hebrew tell me that they are not comfortable speaking in it. 

So for baalei teshuvah who generally are even less comfortable with Hebrew than FFBs who can't converse in Hebrew, the situation is particularly bad.
