Here's how the Israeli press talks about Haredim:
"This is why the ultra-Orthodox and the nationalist ultra-Orthodox were bribed with immense budgets at the expense of productive citizens who serve the country." (Haaretz)
Here's a typical chiloni:
"They are also showering gold on parasitic ultra-orthodox (mostly Askenazis) in a war era to secure their support." (Israeli quoted by Seymour Hirsch)
Here's Former Mossad chief Ephraim Halevy:
“The ‘haredization,’ the process of [religious] radicalization is bringing [societal] segregation and the deepening of a rift in Am Yisrael,” he said in an interview on Radio Kol Hai. “It is more serious and more dangerous than any external threat.
"In the past, harsh and dangerous remarks were made against haredim but failed to gain much media attention. Former Mossad chief Efraim Halevy compared the threat of haredi extremism to the Iranian threat; Avi Simhon, a former adviser to the finance minister, blamed all of society's ills on the numerous children haredim have; and there were plenty of others who added fuel to the fire of haredi hatred -- a fire that spread slowly until it reached the mainstream of Israeli society. To me, Mickey Levy is just a symptom of the dangerous process that has unfolded here. "
Here's party leader Avigdor Liberman:
"Continuing his feud with the ultra-Orthodox parties, Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman said Monday that there was no reason to fund Haredi Torah institutions that teach “idleness.”"
“They sit there at the kollelim [where Talmud is studied], they come in the morning, eat a sandwich, drink coffee and talk politics, peruse some books, and go home. Idleness studies are not holy studies,” said Liberman.
Speaking at a Yisrael Beiteinu party meeting on Monday afternoon, Leiberman said: “Regarding the cost of living, strangely everyone ignores one of the factors. Over 50% of the Chareidi sector isn’t part of the labor force and this is one of the main reasons for the high cost of living.”
Here's a former Prime Minister:
"When the opposition takes power it will cut government benefits for every ultra-Orthodox man who refuses to enlist in the IDF, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid declares, calling such people “criminals” who “shouldn’t receive a reward from the state.”"
My coworkers talk the same way. They tell me that Haredi neighborhoods are dirty when their own Dati Leumi neighborhood is littered with garbage. They tell me the mivkahs are dirty when they've never been to one. They tell me Haredim don't take care of their children, that they teach them to be bums. They tell me that the biggest problem is "your rabbis" who tell us not to "serve" in the army.
You want to live in a society where 80% of the people hate you? Israel is not a good destination for Yeshivish or Chassidish people.
