Not Kedai for most people--Moving to the secular state of israel (SSOI)

Here's how you know if the person walking toward you is Israeli. If he's in the middle of the sidewalk and he doesn't move, doesn't glide 4 inches to the left or right so that he doesn't smash into you or clip you, then he's likely an Israeli.  By Israel I mean Chiloni, Dati Leumi, and sometimes Yeshiva guy. It's different with most Chassidim, Perushim, and sometimes Sephardim. Here's also how you know. If you are walking with a cane and want to board a bus, the Israeli will charge ahead of you. A normal person will let you go first. 

This is the kind of personality you imagine that you'll be around if you make aliyah.  Here's what you will be around: Prospective olim imagine a country full of olim. They picture their friend from Boca Raton who made aliyah. They picture their aunt from Boston. They remember their classmates from Australia from their year abroad in seminary. They think of the physician from Atlanta who retired there.  That's not who dominates Israel.  That seems like a lot of people, but it isn't. It's a handful. Israel has 9 million people (12 million really.)  Israel is full of Israelis. They spent three years as youths being pounded in the army. They arrested Arabs in the Shomron. They saw combat in Lebanon. They don't speak English  They battle to earn a living in a corrupt economy, push ahead of you online, shout at the drop of a hat. They are quite different from your pal from Florida who at age 20 was studying at YU in New York.  You imagine that you are coming hom...

 The lovely light fixtures of Israel You see this everywhere, in apartments, hallways, lobbies, schools. It's not lovely and uplifting. Is this really an OECD nation? That's only if you include military sales and expenditures. Maybe it's a bit better in Ramat Gan. But for religious people, the place is a dump. 

  Three bedroom apartment, outside of Jerusalem, $1.2 million reduced from $1.5 million. It's described as 5 room even though there are only 3 bedrooms because there's a living room and a dining room.  A 3 bedroom house in the less expensive non-religious area. $1.4 million.  Can we say it already? Aliyah is for the rich. And all that talk about people staying in Chutz because they are materialistic is stupidity. 

Yesterday I went for a medical test. The only available testing site was in Modin. This required a 1 1/2 hour bus trip, plus 15 minutes of waiting for the bus and 15 minutes of walking. That's 2 hours each way for a 10 minute test. I had to take the day off from work.

  Make aliyah and enjoy the country where this is the day's news: What no real estate, education, sports, religion, theater, arts, recreation, weather, restaurants, technology? No, the news in Israel today concerns corpses. How ghoulish is that? Dead bodies that have been rotting for a year. That's the news. And still they'll claim that the geulah is upon is. In the real geulah the dead will come back to life. Here it's decayed corpses that stay dead. Maybe Hashem is showing us, no this is not geulah. It's just a depressing place to live, and die.
